Psycho Crush was a game that I worked on as part of a school based Game Jam. Our programmer was mainly a 2D based programmer at the time and he already had a fighting game based animation system created and, due to the fact we had 2 weeks to make the game, we decided to use 3D models rendered against a green screen that could then be made into 2D sprites with the renders. The method worked out quite well and we managed to have everything done for the submission by the deadline.
The city scape image in this Portfolio set was the main level that we used for the game. The renders of characters in the Dojo scene (based on the Dojo from The Matrix) are meant to showcase the wireframes of the models as well as some basic poses. Also included are the animation renders of the Player Character to demonstrate the process we used to make the sprites (there are several more of the other characters, but that would have made this post triple the length)
Designs for the characters were based on the style used in the early Virtua Fighter games.
