Tantive IV

I made this model of the Tantive IV, Princess Leia's ship in Star Wars IV: A New Hope, a long time ago during a career not remotely related to 3D artistry haha

Back when I made the model, I was still learning formal 3D modelling and Blender and didnt possess the knowledge at the time to properly texture the model the way I envisioned. Last year, I finally decided to sit down and texture it using the tool PBR Painter for Blender. After optimizing the model and reducing it by over 800k triangles (originally 1.2 million tris) down to 445k tris. I plan to eventually do another optimization pass of the model now that its textured, and should be able to shave an additional 150k - 200k tris to generate a lower detail LOD.

The model and textures have been optimized for use in Game Engines as a hero piece (ie: one the player would see more detail on up close). Due to the size of the model, I made the decision to break it up between several PBR texture sets that utilize an MRO setup and heavy file size optimizations to the textures to ensure that the asset runs optimally. In total, there are 16 materials on this model, 3 of which are emissive materials that are duplicates of the opaque materials (ie: using the same texture sets).

I've attached several screenshots of the ship rendered within Unity, but have also included several breakdown shots from Blender that show wireframe overlays to show how the geometry is setup, along with combined-texture set textures showing UV map wire overlays to convey how they map to the geometry.
